After 20 plus years in Woodstock (Town Lake) we were empty nesters, we decided to make a change, a very big change, and start looking for land to build on. Water, we wanted water, not a branch but a creek the size of a road with moving water. After months of looking, we decided that was not going to happen. So, water turned into a view. Judy found a lot high on top of a mountain, with a “cross” and a view.
Fast-forward to today, we bought it, we designed it, we built it.
We left 20 years of memories, friends, and our church, which was the hardest thing to leave, for a new way of life in the North Georgia Mountains. We love our mountain life, we love our new friends (our mountain family) we love the comradery between our friends on the mountain, and in the bucket downtown. It is a new way of life, with being on well water, LP gas, and Black Bear trash services. The winters are “gorgeous” and the summers never reach past the high 90’s.
To us, it’s what we call God’s County, there was a reason Judy found a view with a “cross”.
